- Useful for:
Evaluating the long-term control of blood glucose concentrations in patients with diabetes. Hemoglobin A1c measurements are used as an aid in the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, for identifying patients who may be at risk of developing diabetes mellitus, and for monitoring long-term blood glucose control in individuals with diabetes mellitus. This assay is not useful in determining day-to-day glucose control and should not be used to replace daily home testing of blood glucose.
